South Carolina First Steps is a statewide initiative focused on ensuring all children enter school ready to succeed. With a broad network of county partnerships, programs, and resources for families, caregivers, and providers, the organization’s website needed to better serve multiple audiences with varying needs.
Families seeking early childhood support often arrived with limited time and high urgency, while providers and partners needed streamlined access to funding opportunities, data, and program information. The existing digital experience made it difficult to quickly identify relevant resources, understand available programs, and navigate pathways to support.
We redesigned the South Carolina First Steps website to create a more intuitive, audience-driven experience that connects users to the right resources faster.
The new structure prioritizes clear entry points for families, providers, and community partners, guiding each audience through tailored journeys based on their goals. For families, the experience simplifies how to find local programs, understand eligibility, and take next steps. For providers and stakeholders, it improves access to grants, data, and statewide initiatives.
We also restructured content to better reflect the organization’s impact across South Carolina—highlighting county-level work, early childhood programs, and measurable outcomes—while ensuring the platform is scalable for future growth.
